Where to Park in Estepona: Free Parking, Car Parks, and Blue Zones (2026)

Estepona has more parking options than you'd expect. Here's every car park, free zone, and parking tip you need.

Parking in Estepona is easier than in most Costa del Sol towns, if you know where to look. The old town's narrow streets are pedestrianised, which means you can't park there, but the town has invested in affordable municipal car parks, and several free options exist on the outskirts.

Whether you're here for a day trip to explore the best things to do in Estepona, heading to the beach, or visiting the weekly markets, the key is knowing which car park works best for what you're doing.

Free Parking in Estepona

Estepona has several genuinely free parking areas. They're slightly further from the centre, but the savings add up, especially for full-day visits.

Parking Litoral (Best Free Option)

This is the largest free car park in Estepona with 300 spaces, located at the entrance to town opposite Carrefour supermarket. It's open 24 hours and there are always spaces available, even on busy days.

The catch is it's a 15 to 20 minute walk to Calle Terraza and the old town (1.4km), and the surface is unpaved gravel. Bus stops for routes L1, L2, and L-79 are nearby if you don't want to walk.

Parking Litoral is perfect for day trips when you don't mind a walk. Park here, walk into town along Avenida del Litoral (flat and pleasant), and save 15 euros or more compared to underground parking.

Parking La Cala

A newer free parking area that opened in 2024, off Avenida del Litoral via Calle Teniente Serra near Carrefour. It has over 200 spaces, is open 24 hours, and sits on a better surface than Parking Litoral.

At 950m from the town centre (10 to 12 minute walk), it's closer than Litoral but fills up faster, especially on weekends.

Plaza de Toros (Bullring)

The bullring car park near the marina has 50+ free spaces and is the best free option for visiting the marina, the Sunday markets, or the Paseo Maritimo. It's a 3 to 5 minute walk to the port.

On Sundays, arrive before 10am or you'll struggle to find a space. The Marina Market, Bio Market, and Rastro all draw crowds.

Teatro Auditorio Felipe VI

A small free car park near the theatre off Calle Diputado Ignacio Mena, with about 50 asphalt spaces. Useful if you're attending events or exploring the western side of town.

Municipal 1 Euro/Day Car Parks

Estepona's Municipal Parking Plan offers exceptional value: 1 euro for daytime parking (9am to 9pm), 2 euros for overnight (9pm to 9am), or 3 euros for a full 24 hours. These car parks are managed by APRONA, a social enterprise supporting employment for people with disabilities.

Parking Plaza Antonia Guerrero (Best for Old Town)

This underground car park is directly beneath the old town with 110 spaces, open 24 hours. It costs 1 euro for daytime, 2 euros overnight, 3 euros for 24 hours, or 16 euros for 48+ hours.

You emerge from the car park steps from the main shopping streets and Plaza de las Flores. It's the most convenient option for exploring Estepona's historic centre.

This car park is within the ZBE (Low Emission Zone). All vehicles can access the car park, but check ZBE rules if driving through the zone.

Parking San Lorenzo

An open-air municipal car park on Avenida San Lorenzo with 181 spaces, open 24 hours. It costs 1 euro/day with a 3 euro/day surcharge after 48 hours. Construction on the Boulevard project may temporarily affect availability, so check conditions when you arrive.

Parking Estadio Atletismo (Largest Option)

The largest car park in Estepona with 740 spaces near the athletics stadium. Hours are 8am to 11:30pm (1 euro), 11:30pm to 8am (2 euros), or full 24 hours (3 euros).

You'll always find a spot here. It's a 15-minute walk (1.2km) to the old town, but the 1 euro/day rate makes it worth considering for longer stays.

Parking Publico Ayuntamiento

Another municipal option on Avenida San Lorenzo near the town hall with 181 spaces, following the same pricing: 1 euro daytime (9am to 9pm), 2 euros overnight, 3 euros for 24 hours, 16 euros for 48+ hours.

24-Hour Underground Car Parks

For maximum convenience or overnight parking, these underground car parks offer 24-hour access with hourly and daily rates.

Parking del Paseo Maritimo

Located at the end of Avenida Juan Carlos I near the beach, with 200 spaces. Costs 2.40 euros/hour or 17 euros for 24 hours.

This is the most convenient option for beach days. Park underground, walk straight onto the Paseo Maritimo, and the beach is right there. Perfect for families with beach gear who don't want to walk far.

Parking Zapalito

A central underground car park on Avenida Espana 94, open 24 hours. Costs 2.40 euros/hour or 17 euros for 24 hours. Elevator and stair access. Good for longer stays when you need central access.

La Vina Parking

A large underground facility with 415 spaces in the Huerta Nueva area, open 8am to 10pm. It has two entrances/exits and three pedestrian accesses, making it easy to get in and out.

Blue Zone Street Parking

Blue-lined parking spaces throughout Estepona require payment during regulated hours.

DetailInformation
HoursMon-Fri: 9am-2pm, 5pm-8pm / Sat: 9am-2pm
Sundays/HolidaysFree
Cost0.50 to 1.50 euros per hour
Maximum stayUsually 2 hours
PaymentNearby ticket machines (coins and cards)

Blue zones are marked with blue lines on the road and blue signs indicating the hours. Buy a ticket from the nearest machine and display it on your dashboard.

Download a parking app like EasyPark or Telpark. You can pay by phone, extend your time remotely, and avoid the hunt for ticket machines.

Green Zone (Resident Parking)

Green or orange-lined spaces are reserved for residents with permits. Don't park in these unless you have a local permit, or you'll receive a fine.

Where to Park for Estepona's Old Town

The old town streets are pedestrianised. You can't drive or park within them.

Plaza Antonia Guerrero is the best option at 1 euro/day, underground, right beneath the old town. You walk out and you're there. If you'd rather save the euro, Plaza de Toros is free and about a 10-minute walk through pleasant streets.

Where to Park for Estepona Beach

Parking del Paseo Maritimo gives you direct underground access to the beach at 2.40 euros/hour or 17 euros for 24 hours. For families with chairs, umbrellas, and cooler boxes, the convenience is worth it.

For a free option, Parking La Cala is a 10-minute walk to the beach. Good for a budget beach day when you're travelling light.

Where to Park for Estepona Markets

The Wednesday market draws crowds. Nearby street parking fills by 9:30am. Plaza de Toros (free, 8-minute walk) or the Sports Centre Las Mesas (free, 5-minute walk) are the best options. Arrive before 10am for guaranteed spaces.

For the Sunday markets at the marina, Plaza de Toros is closest but fills by 10am. Arrive early or use Parking Litoral and walk in. Read more in our Estepona weekly markets guide.

Can I Park Overnight in Estepona?

Yes. The 24-hour underground car parks (Paseo Maritimo and Zapalito) charge 17 euros for 24 hours. Municipal car parks charge 2 euros for overnight (9pm to 9am) or 3 euros for a full 24-hour period.

If you're staying at a hotel in Estepona, check whether parking is included before paying for a public car park.

How Much Does Parking Cost in Estepona?

Estepona is significantly cheaper for parking than Malaga or Marbella. Here's a quick comparison:

  • Free car parks: 0 euros (Litoral, La Cala, Plaza de Toros)
  • Municipal car parks: 1 euro/day daytime, 3 euros for 24 hours
  • Underground 24-hour car parks: 2.40 euros/hour or 17 euros for 24 hours
  • Blue zone street parking: 0.50 to 1.50 euros/hour

For a day trip, you can park for free or for 1 euro. That's hard to beat on the Costa del Sol.

Low Emission Zone (ZBE)

Estepona has a Low Emission Zone (Zona de Bajas Emisiones) covering parts of the town centre. If you're renting a car, make sure it has a valid DGT environmental label.

Vehicle LabelAccess
0 (Zero emissions)Full access, no restrictions
ECOFull access, no restrictions
CCan enter if parking in a public or private car park
BCheck current rules, restrictions may apply
No labelRestricted, check specific rules

Exemptions apply for vehicles registered in Estepona, loading/unloading vehicles, vehicles accessing public car parks, and hotel guests driving to their accommodation.

If you're visiting the old town and parking in Plaza Antonia Guerrero or another public car park, you're fine to drive through the ZBE. For more on emission zones, read our guide to the low emission zone in Malaga.

Parking Tips

  • Arrive before 10am on market days (Wednesday, Sunday)
  • Use the 1 euro/day municipal car parks for best value
  • Download a parking app for blue zone payments
  • Plaza de Toros is free and works for marina, markets, and old town
  • Don't park in green/orange zones (residents only)
  • Check ZBE rules if you have an older vehicle
  • Underground car parks are worth it for beach days with equipment
  • Keep coins handy for blue zone machines

What to Avoid

Don't park in pedestrianised streets. You'll be fined and possibly towed. Don't overstay in blue zones, as fines are issued quickly. Don't block driveways or marked areas, even briefly. And don't rely on street parking in summer when car parks are more reliable.
