Málaga Taxi Guide: Prices, Apps, Airport Fares & How to Get Around (2026)

These are the times that you'll need a taxi in Malaga.

With over 1,600 official taxis in Málaga running day and night, finding a cab is never a problem.

But honestly, you won't always need one. Málaga's public transport covers most of the city well, and ride-share apps like Uber and Bolt are usually cheaper.

That said, taxis are unbeatable for airport transfers, late-night trips, and when the apps can't find a driver. Below is everything you need to know about Málaga taxi prices, apps, fares and where to find them.

How Much Does a Taxi in Málaga Cost?

Málaga taxis are regulated by the local government and all use taximeters. The price depends on distance, time of day and number of passengers.

These are the 2026 tariff prices. Fares went up between 3.5% and 5% compared to 2025. For a more up-to-date list, you can check taxi-calculator.com.

Official Málaga taxis are white with a blue diagonal stripe on the front doors. When available, they show a green "Libre" light on the roof. Just wave one down on the street.

Taxi Ranks (Paradas de Taxi)

You'll find taxi ranks at all the busiest spots in the city.

  • Airport (right outside Arrivals, available 24/7)
  • María Zambrano Train Station
  • Cruise Terminal (Terminals A & B)
  • Muelle Heredia Bus Station
  • Plaza de la Marina and Paseo del Parque
  • Near Calle Larios and Plaza de la Constitución

If you've just landed, our Málaga airport to city centre guide covers all your transfer options, including the €1.80 train.

What Is the Best Taxi App in Málaga?

Skip the wait by using a taxi app. Most allow card payments, show fare estimates upfront, and have English-language support.

AppFeatures
UberEasy booking, set pricing, GPS tracking
CabifyPremium vehicles, flexible ride options
Free NowTraditional taxis via app booking
BoltBudget-friendly, app-based rides
PideTaxiLocal Spanish taxi dispatch app

Uber and Bolt tend to be the cheapest options. Free Now and PideTaxi connect you with licensed Málaga taxis specifically, which can be useful when the ride-share apps are surging.

Can You Call a Taxi in Málaga by Phone?

Yes, and it's worth saving a number in your phone for late-night bookings when apps might have limited drivers.

  • Taxi Union Málaga: +34 952 040 804
  • Unitaxi Málaga: +34 952 333 333
  • Blue Plate Cabs: +34 679 216 671
  • Taxi Grande (wheelchair-accessible vans): +34 678 848 484

Do Taxis in Málaga Take Card?

Most Málaga taxis now accept credit and debit cards. It's still worth confirming with the driver before you set off, especially at night or with older taxis.

If you're planning to use cards throughout your trip, our card tips for Spain guide covers everything you need to know about payments.

Are Taxis Available 24/7 at Málaga Airport?

Yes, taxis queue at the rank outside Arrivals around the clock, including for late-night flights. You don't need to pre-book unless you need a wheelchair-accessible vehicle or child seat.

The taxi rank is clearly signposted as you exit the terminal. During peak season, the queue moves quickly because there are hundreds of cabs serving the airport.

Travelling with Kids?

Málaga taxis don't usually carry child seats. If you're travelling with a baby or toddler, book a private transfer in advance, or request a child seat option via Cabify or Uber.

Wheelchair-Accessible Taxis in Málaga

Most regular taxis don't have ramp access. Taxi Grande Málaga (+34 678 848 484) provides large accessible vans with professional drivers. Pre-booking is essential.

Is Tipping Expected for Taxis in Málaga?

Tipping taxi drivers isn't expected in Málaga. Rounding up to the nearest euro is appreciated, like paying €11 for a €10.60 fare. For help with luggage or long trips, a tip of 5 to 10% is generous but not required.

Our tipping in Spain guide covers the customs for restaurants, bars and taxis across the country.

When Are Taxis the Best Option?

We don't rely on taxis as our main way of getting around. Málaga's buses are reliable, and Uber or Bolt are generally cheaper.

But taxis earn their keep in a few situations.

  • Airport or train station transfers, especially late at night
  • When ride-share apps are stuck finding a driver
  • With luggage, kids, or accessibility needs
  • During peak summer heat when you don't want to wait at a bus stop
